    An ECG or electrocardiogram is a simple investigation that is used to assess your heart's rate, rhythm and electrical activity.

  • How is an ECG performed?

    10 electrodes are used to record 12 different views of your heart. You do not require to do anything in preparation. The test takes less than 5 minutes to perform and is completely painless.

  • What information can an ECG provide?

    An abnormal ECG can inform Prof Ruparelia of the following;

    • An abnormal heart rhythm
    • Problems with the electrical conduction system of the heart
    • Evidence of a previous heart attack
    • An indication of an enlarged heart
